Mamavation Monday – 3/14

No scale pic today – no weight. I’m taking some time off from the scale. And enjoying it!

Here is a pic of me, post-run this morning, in the infamous size MEDIUM running capris! See that big smile? That’s what running does for me… way better than therapy! and in my hand? The dog’s leash. Not a whip – no matter how much I’d like to use one on my husband sometimes. ;-)  For comparison, here is a pic of my family from Easter last year, 50 lbs ago –

People are starting to comment on the changes, and I’m loving it! I am actually going to start to take MORE pictures so I can see the changes more. I wish I had been doing this more, but that’s ok. Some things are better left in the past.

This week for me has been good, but frustrating in some ways… I’m trying to increase my miles for my race in a month and a half, but lack of sleep is making me EXHAUSTED. This week I’m going to try to get my girls on more of a schedule and myself on more of a set work out schedule and see if that helps me some. My husband started a new job that has very erratic hours, so we’ll see how this goes…

Nutrition is going to be my biggest focus this week. I’m going to be doing a blog post, hopefully later today and plan the entire menu for my girls and myself for the whole week before I go grocery shopping. With Jason’s new job came a cut in our food budget so finding cheap, healthy food is going to be more important now than ever!

BLOGGING CARNIVAL: This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by Fit Studio.

They want to know:

What time of day works best for you to be active?  How do you make sure you stick to those planned workouts?

I hate to say it, but I’m beginning to think I might have to get up before my kids do to get the long runs in! I can do short bursts (15-30 minutes) throughout the day on the treadmill, DVD or Kinect and they can keep themselves occupied and I can supervise them enough to keep them out of trouble. Anything longer than that though and they start getting into trouble or craving Mommy’s attention. How am I going to stick to it? SUCK IT UP, CUPCAKE! I’m working on getting everyone in the house on a schedule and it’s just going to be in my schedule. Period. It’s going to have to be…. there is no other option. Too my depends on it!

If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out Leah’s post about her experience in bootcamp at Ft. Benning, Ga. She’s giving away an iPad with the post, but it’s the video that makes it worth reading the post! Don’t forget to hit the linky and show your support for our troops!

Menu Plan Monday:

I just cleaned out the fridge and freezer… I’m going to try to use up the few not-so-good foods that I found this week before going to the store again, so here’s my plan -

Tonight: Pork Chops, mashed potatoes, peas (Steak Salad for me w/Chefs Requested since I hate pork chops!)

Tuesday: Jambalaya, Rolls

Wednesday: Spaghetti

Thursday: Bible Study night for me, Jason is on his own.

Friday: BBQ Chicken, mixed veggies,

Saturday: Meatloaf,

Whew…. that’s the first time I’ve done that. It actually feels kind of nice to have a menu planned out!
